24.04.2009 Competitions for positions of judges announced
The National Council on Justice Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic announced competitions to fill in vacant judicial positions of judges of Kara-Suiskiy rayon court of Osh Oblast, Sverdlovskiy rayon court of Bishkek city and the Supreme Court of the KR. The deadline for submission of documents is May 7, 2009.

15.04.2009 The Heads of the Supreme Court and the Judicial Council met with a colleague from the USA
The Chair of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic J. Alieva and the Chair of the Judicial Council of the Kyrgyz Republic L. V. Gutnichenko met with a Federal Judge of the State Minnesota (USA) Paul Magnusson, Advisor of Open World Program, on April 14, 2009 in Bishkek.

During the meeting the Chair of the National Council, judge of the Constitutional court of the KR A. A. Abdugaparov, the Deputy Chair, Parliament member of JK of the KR I. V. Letova, a lawyer of public union ‘Act to support family’ B. M. Tolubaeva informed about the activities of the Council and answered journalists’ questions. Local court judges of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulnara Karpekovna Kumanova and Otorbay Karypbaevich Jarkimbaev, appointed to their positions by the Presidential decree of the Kyrgyz Republic until they reach age limit, made oaths at the ceremonial meeting of the judges of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 10, 2009.

A meeting of workgroup under the Council of the Ministers of Justice of States – members of Eurasian Economic Community took place in Moscow concerning issues of enforcement of judgments.

In Moscow chief enforcement officer of the Kyrgyz Republic, A.T. Alybaev met with Chief bailiff (enforcement officer) of Federal service of Russian Federation A.O. Perfenchikov. At the meeting they discussed issues relating to cooperation between agencies in the field of enforcement of judgments.

The Judicial Council held its next regular sessions on April 29-30, 2009. The standards and criteria for premises and facilities of rayon (city) courts of the Kyrgyz Republic, prepared by the Working Group, were considered and the information by the Chair of the Judicial Council L.V. Gutnichenko about the activities of the Judicial Council for the first year of its work was heard during the sessions. At the end of the sessions the elections of a new chair of the Judicial Council of the KR were held. L.V. Gutnichenko was reelected for the second term.
